Paris, France – Katimo Dress

My favorite Ukrainian brand came with me to Paris. I bought this piece back in May on our trip to Kyiv, (along with a gorgeous coffee brown pant suit) and was saving to wear it on this trip. I love the versatility of the item: you can wear it as a top over wide-leg pants for a more relaxed high-fashion look, as a cardigan over a fall pant/top combo, over a swimsuit on vacation or, like I wore it here, as a dress for a more feminine edgy vibe. The lace detailing on the back is just enough of a little differentiator that makes this look interesting without over-accessorizing. Katimo is a very unique brand leaning heavily towards creating basic pieces with a unique twist: if its a dress shirt, its extra oversized with cool belting, if its a midi dress, itā€™ll have exaggerated symmetrical shoulders, if its a blazer, itā€™ll have an extra structured silhouetteā€¦ Katimo collections for the most part are very classic, with an emphasis on top-notch quality. Which, I’m not tired of repeating: in the sustainable fashion world is key.

As a bonus, the piece is made from 100% Tencel, so it is entirely biodegradable.

A huge part of sustainability in fashion, and one I havenā€™t really spent too much time talking about yet, is exactly what I just mentioned: versatility. Classic color palettes that complement different moods and looks are just bound to serve you longer.Ā

The accessory I added to this look is my YSL bag that I bought in 2014. It is by a NOT-the-worldā€™s-most-sustainable brand (to put it lightly) + made of real leather. However, it is so classic and versatile that I canā€™t imagine ever not wanting to wear it. If anything, I OVERwear it, which makes the purchase of this bag worth it in the end: I actually havenā€™t bought a single evening black bag since I purchased this one, and that includes the time I knew nothing about fast vs. slow fashion.
