“I often look for small Ukrainian labels to shop because A.: I am Ukrainian and love the feeling of supporting local brands that often don’t get the attention they deserve and B.: I often notice Ukrainian brands produce some truly amazing high-quality clothes because they really think outside the box.” – 2018
“Already owning some pieces by Ukrainian brands and following a ton of designers on socials, I knew coming to Kyiv… some serious investing was about to happen.” – 2019
“I find Ukrainian artists, designers and brands to be some of the most chic and creative ones in the world. Creators here aren’t trying to chase world standards – they just create.” – 2019
Support & love for Ukrainian brands isn’t a new concept for my blog.
Neither is putting money where my mouth is.
2022 forced a new meaning for both concepts – Ukrainian brands require support for survival, not underrated beauty and ingenuity I often described only 2-3 years ago. Making a thoughtful investment through purchasing fashion took on a whole new meaning by supporting #MadeInUkraine – most of these labels operate through air raid sirens from russian missiles on a daily basis. Most brands in Ukraine today donate to the Armed Forces in Ukraine through direct investments, uniform production, or volunteering & sometime in late spring, I wanted to start supporting my favorite & some new Ukrainian fashion designers who are keeping the local economy afloat.
Research, hashtags + DMs and I compiled 2 catalogues of Ukrainian brands to shop & support – proceeding to do so myself. So far this year, I purchased from 8 Ukrainian brands that blew me away – some as expected, some by surprise. Half of which made it into this outfit – scroll down for links, descriptions & details.
On this blog, we talk about ethical fashion, brands and trends transforming the industry and we also support Ukraine – quick break to donate $5!
