This is 30

I always found it to be like a burden – women lying about their age – what should we ever have to feel ashamed about!? This is literally the one thing that every single human will experience – time. And I have found inspiration in women from every age bracket: some very young girls are crushing their goals and make me feel like I did absolutely nothing with my teen years (which is kind of true…) and some women in their 60s are putting me to shame with their work ethic, passion, self-confidence and pursuit of dreams and success…

So as you might have guessed, this post comes at you about a month after I turned 30. And this is NOT an easy one for me to write.

I was that kid who cried at the end of every birthday party or movie… or almost every other night, just because the day was over – I don’t cope with things ending very well. So closing out a decade of my life, one that was incredibly educational, fun, wild, silly, energetic… was a strange and sad feeling. So I started looking for ways to inspire myself out of depression… Research and a bunch of deep conversations later, I realized one thing – age is not a reason to feel down. Whether we turn 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 or whatever else up or between – we, as women, can do everything. We cannot let anything stop us from pursuing our dreams and doing whatever it takes to feel that happiness and fulfillment.

An Avalanche of Cliches

Seeming like a simple thought, “you can do anything at any point in your life” holds so much power. There are absolutely no limits… And if you feel any limits, I am here to tell you – they’re fictional. They’re probably erected by people in your life who are too insecure to push themselves forward, too sad to watch someone’s success or just don’t know any better. The reality of all our situations is that – repeat after me: we can do anything we want at any point in our lives.

At 30, I’m in a happy strong relationship, on a successful career path and have full faith in this blog succeeding – I’m not an entrepreneur, a wife or a mother. Yet. And that is absolutely fine! In the modern world, there is no clock ticking on any of your decisions – you can become a wife in a beautiful gown at any age, and (disclaimer: after consulting with your doctor and exploring all your options and risks) a wise amazing mother whenever you choose. Don’t even get me started on being able to switch career paths, residences, styles or goals at any point in your life (I highly recommend checking out Nancy on Project Runway Season 18 for inspiration of following your dreams at any stage in your life – wow).

So. I haven’t blogged in over a month and wanted to jump back in here with a lifestyle post that has been on my mind and a message that I hope resonates.

I have some fun blog topics planned on sustainable fashion coming soon, because the industry is changing and evolving in the right direction and that has been incredibly exciting to watch! In the meantime, repeat after me: I’m successful, beautiful, strong, wise, daring and I can be anything I put my mind to. Cliche, I know… But so true…
