Sustainable Fashion Podcasts I’m Listening To

One of the most popular phrases you’ll hear from a marketer is: “Your potential client has a short attention span and won’t have time or interest in reading a long book, watching a long video, or listening to a lengthy webinar unless they already have some interest in your company, brand or product.” While partially true, I think marketers underestimate their audience.

Podcasts, as a form of entertainment, are extremely popular and I don’t know about you, but I listen to 1-3 hour ones all the time (and in multiple languages). Podcasts are also very easy to find today – through so many paid or free apps, social media, and curated playlists, they’re accessible and available for everyone. Of course, one podcast category I’m super interested in – is sustainable fashion.

So here are my 3 Spotify podcast recommendations.

Good Together: Ethical, Eco-Friendly, Sustainable Living

Hosted by Laura Alexander Wittig and Liza Moiseeva, every new episode comes out about once a week and focuses on different topics around sustainability – fashion, skincare, food, pet care and so much more. They also highlight some brands you can and should purchase from as a sustainable clean alternative and give actionable tips on how to live more sustainably.

Sustainable Fashion by Gaia and Dubos

There are 12 episodes that released in 2020 and each focuses on a niche topic within the fashion industry, of course revolving around sustainability, like “Why the fashion industry is the second-largest polluter” or “Why fast fashion will never be sustainable”. With each episode about 7 – 17 minutes long, I highly recommend checking it out to get some quick facts about the industry and get a perspective on sustainability.

Business of Fashion Podcast

This one isn’t strictly focused on sustainability, but with the recent release of The Sustainability Index (a report by Business of Fashion outlining how a lot of brands are working towards becoming ethical), there is an interesting episode breaking down the report and how and why so many brands in the industry aren’t working quick enough to be called truly ethical and sustainable. The podcast also addresses a lot of issues everyone needs to pay attention to from the perspective of professionals within the fashion industry – the recent episodes addressing Anti-Asian Racism in Fashion and interviews with Iman and Virgil Abloh are a must.
